Understand the terminology
Forklifts are classified in three different ways
“Forklift type” can describe the truck’s design, power source or operating environment. These categories overlap: a three-wheel counterbalance truck can also be electric and used indoors.
By truck design
Counterbalance, reach truck, pallet stacker, rough-terrain forklift and telehandler describe the physical layout and primary function.
By power source
Electric, diesel and LPG/dual-fuel describe how the truck is powered and affect charging, refueling, emissions and site suitability.
By operating need
